Integrative Attachment THerapy
Re-wiring your nervous system towards earned relational securityMaud offers online Integrative Attachment Therapy (IAT) sessions in English, French, and, on a needs-basis, in German. This powerful and compassionate approach helps rewire the nervous system toward secure attachment, emotional regulation, and healthier relationships. Maud is a professional IAT practitioner (Levels 1-3), trained and directly supervised by Dr. David Elliott.
What is Integrative Attachment Therapy (IAT)?
IAT is a structured, experiential therapeutic method designed to repair attachment disturbances. Co-developed by Daniel P. Brown and Dr. David Elliott, it is based on three pillars: a safe and collaborative therapeutic relationship, the development of metacognitive awareness, and a guided imagery protocol called the Ideal Parent Figure (IPF). The IPF protocol rewires attachment patterns by replacing insecure internal working models with deeply secure experiences of protection, attunement, comfort, delight, and encouragement. This is not a cognitive or analytical approach—IAT works directly through the body and the nervous system.
Core benefits of IAT
IAT is particularly suited to those struggling with recurring relationship difficulties, chronic emotional distress, anxiety about intimacy, or difficulty with autonomy. It’s especially helpful for those with anxious or avoidant attachment patterns. IAT supports the emergence of a deeper inner sense of security, emotional self-regulation, the ability to set boundaries, and to relate and explore from a secure base. Patients often report a newfound ease, vitality, and coherence in how they live and relate.
How does IAT work?
Each IAT session is 1 hour and conducted online. Sessions include co-exploration, metacognitive reflection (noticing and naming patterns and expectations), and guided imagery. Therapy is grounded in the Three Pillars:
- Collaboration in the therapeutic relationship: co-created, stable, attuned.
- Metacognition: increasing awareness of automatic relational expectations.
- Ideal Parent Figure imagery: repeated experiences of secure caregiving to rewire the nervous system. Patients often report a newfound ease, vitality, and coherence in how they live and relate.
